Aileen Williams-Gibbs – President & Founding Member:  Mrs. Williams-Gibbs served as Board Chair of Northwest Jacksonville Community Development Corporation (NJCDC) from its inception in 2001 until October of 2010.  She is a native of Jacksonville, Florida and grew up in NJCDC’s target neighborhood. Mrs. Williams-Gibbs is an employee of Shands Jacksonville (31 years) (a teaching hospital associated with the University of Florida) and is the Co-owner/Operator of L.A.G. Consultants, specializing in personal/professional growth and development. She attended Florida Community College where she earned an AA degree in Psychology and she is presently attending Andersonville Theological Seminary.  She is a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church (Folkston, GA) and enjoys reading, writing, sports and motivating and inspiring others.

Bridget Nelson-Adams - Vice President:  Ms. Nelson-Adams is a licensed Mortgage Broker and the Office Manager at Englewood High School.  She previously worked as a Community Involvement Supervisor for Duval County Public Schools.  She attended Howard University and The University of North Florida.  She is actively involved with the Parent, Teacher, Student Association for Duval County Schools.

William Atkinson - Treasurer: Mr. William Atkinson worked as a Federal Inspector (Criminal Investigator) for the U.S. Treasury Department for many years.  He was also the Director of Civil Rights for the U.S. Forestry Service.   He was a Manager/Supervisory Investigator for Florida Commission On Human Relations and Director of Civil Rights for the USDA.  He served in two branches of the Military, the U.S. Army Intelligence Corps (Special Agent) and the U.S. Air Force Reserves ( Air Policeman). Mr. Atkinson attended Morehouse College.

Janet McDonald - Secretary :  Janet McDonald is presently a Healthy Start Nurse Educator for Shands Jacksonville.  She began her studies in London, England and later relocated to Evanston, IL where she continued her studies  at Kendall College.  She moved to Jacksonville, FL where she received her BSN Degree from the University of North Florida.  Ms. McDonald enjoys reading, mentoring youth and event planning.  She’s an active member of the Social Services and Resources Development/Marketing Committees.


Mary Eaves – Founding Board Member: Ms. Mary Eaves served as Vice President of the Board of Directors for Northwest Jacksonville Community Development Corporation from its inception in 2001 until October 2010. Ms. Eaves is a Jacksonville native who grew up in the 29th and Chase Neighborhood area on West 20th Street near Abbott Street, off of Martin Luther King Jr.  Pkwy. She retired from a career in nursing, as a Nursing Education Consultant for the State of Florida and from Bethune Cookman College, where she was an instructor and administrator for the Nursing Program.

Odessa Townsend - Advisory Member: Ms. Townsend is a retired Human Resources Director.  She spent twenty years with the Jacobson's Stores, Inc. and was a buyer for Ivey's Department Stores in Jacksonville, FL and Rich's Department stores in Atlanta, GA.  She attended Jacksonville University and FSCJ.  She began her community involvement with the 29th and Chase Neighborhood Association in 2003.  She is also a member of Bethel Baptist Institutional Church.

Willie Martin - Board Member: A native of Mobile, Alabama, a graduate of Alabama State College. A broadcast industry professional and the founder of Wilpower Media Group. He made history when he became the First African American Radio Station Owner in Florida, Martin Radio Company (MRC). He is a past president of the Northwest Area Chamber and is currently involved with the TV, Film & Commercial Production Advisory Board.

Malachi Beyah - Board Member:   President/Owner-Operator of M&M Maintenance Plus. He was a previous Consultant for Miami Dade Community College, and was Director of Northeast Florida Comprehensive Drug Program, here in Jacksonville, Florida. He has been actively involved with The Boys and Girls Club of America, Gateway Community Services and The Children and Families Community Health Initiative, Inc.  Mr. Beyah attended Edward Waters College.
